Authentication method customization by user or group

Power Embedded is constantly evolving and looking for ways to improve the security of your reports.

For this reason, Power Embedded allows you to choose the supported authentication methods for accessing the reports portal.

System administrators can define the allowed authentication methods for the portal, where the system will display on the login screen only the buttons permitted in the screen below:

To further customize system security, Power Embedded provides an additional level of configuration for login methods, where you can define which authentication methods each user or group can use.

With this feature, you can have different authentication methods based on user profiles. For example, members of the "Coordinators" group can authenticate only using Microsoft authentication, while members of the "External Users" group can log in to the reports portal using any authentication method supported by Power Embedded.

Priority Rules and How It Works

  • The highest priority belongs to the Settings screen. If Microsoft authentication is not enabled there, it will not be allowed, even if it is enabled for the user or group.

  • The check for whether a user can use an authentication method validates this property in the user's registration or whether the user belongs to a group that has that permission enabled.

  • If no authentication method is selected, all methods will be allowed.

  • If a user belongs to a group that has no authentication method enabled, that user will be able to log in to the portal using any authentication method.
